Anna Wałek - Head of Technology

Dr. Anna Wałek is the Head of Technology for OAPEN and DOAB, leading the technical development and infrastructure strategy for both platforms. She brings 12 years of experience in academic library leadership, open science infrastructure, and digital repository management.

Her career includes serving as President of IATUL (International Association of University Libraries), Head of Library Department at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, Director of the Center for Scientific and Technical Information at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and Library Director at Gdańsk University of Technology. She has extensive experience managing EU-funded projects focused on open access repositories and research data management.

Anna actively contributes to numerous international open science initiatives, including representing Poland on the Council for National Open Science Coordination (CoNOSC) and participating in the Research Data Alliance (RDA) and GO FAIR initiatives. Her previous roles include serving on the CESAER and EOSC Association’s Task Forces and the SPARC Europe Board of Directors. She has also coordinated the GO-FAIR Polish Data Stewardship Competence Centers Implementation Network (DSCC-IN PL) and collaborated with the National Science Centre (NCN) on various open science initiatives.

Anna holds a PhD in Library and Information Science and is an author and a frequent speaker on topics of open science, digital transformation, and the vital role of infrastructure in supporting a healthy scholarly ecosystem.
