VU University Press

Manuscripts that qualify for open access publishing at VU University Press (VU UP) are screened for suitability based on a peer review system. Two academics in the relevant field or discipline assess the submitted manuscripts for academic content, context, originality, coherence, literature references and reflection to help determine whether a manuscript should be published. The reviewer reports are written using the VU UP Review Form.

If the two peer reviewers indicate that a manuscript is suitable for publication by VU UP, the publishing process is started. This process involves language editing and text design. In some cases, authors are invited to revise their manuscripts to address specific concerns. The advice of a third reviewer will be sought where consensus cannot be reached.

Peer reviewers do their work on a voluntary basis. If we decide to publish a printed edition in addition to an open access digital publication, the reviewers will receive a free copy of the book.
